We love Ash, its like Red Oak's blonde friend. Ash trees nationwide are suffering from an invasive Beetle infestation and its just rotten. We have some sticks around the shop from who knows when, but we'll probably see less and less of this lovely wood in the future.

What a joy to work with Cherry in the shop! It cuts beautifully and has a lovely broad swirly grain with a warm pinkish orange color. What doesn't a cherry tree have to offer? lovely fruit! beautiful blossoms! and this gorgeous wood.

Douglas Fir has to be our favourite coniferous tree, although its not actually a fir tree! Its warm and contrasting grain feels like. Elegant, useful and. We have mostly been using reclaimed Doug Fir that we have been salvaging out of our house as we fix it up.

Wow so tuff! Maple is an incredibly dense and strong hardwood reknown for resisting scratches and dents. Its so dense it can't really even be stained well! But its strength and density makes our button stool possible and our biscotti boards so tough for how wee they are. One of our go-to woods.

Often bismirched for its variable colors of green, yellow and even purplish black and its softness and affordability, and called rude things like 'paint grade' hardwood, but we think its beautiful just as it is. We use it for things like snake friends (naturally greenish and yellow? ahem!), side tables, carvings and super practical things like stretcher bars and frame strainers.

You know Red Oak, its everywhere! We love its warm tones, its affordability and its history and love it when its plain sawn grain gets a little wild. Its a little harder to work with and is sometimes prone to splintering when unfinished, but thats a small price to pay for such a fun wood. We use it for everything, except for food contact stuff, since its wee grain can be porous and holds bacteria and other debris especially well!

The delicious smell of cutting Walnut wood is what keeps us going. It mills beautifully, and has lovely curvy grain that finishes beautifully into a lovely purplish chocolate brown wood. Walnut is a much more expensive domestic wood in comparison to most of the other woods we use so its really the only wood we charge more for typically.

While it looks similar to Red Oak, White Oak is harder, less porous, more neutral toned and genrally darker colored than Red Oak. White Oak also mills much nicer and smells amazing to cut. It is prized for its ability to be steam bent and is a favorite of furniture makers. It grows slower than Red Oak and is a little pricier, but well worth the price!
